KAONTANA is a realization of GRND UP's vision and that is a country with equal opportunities, growth, and impact. We are a Filipino eat-all-you-can buffet restaurant and concept store. We serve numerous Filipino dishes and BBQ in a unique long table dining concept and raw materials sourced locally and we are also a concept store promoting 100% Filipino products and produce.

KAONTANA is a brainchild of GRND UP. It is a lokal concept cafe, buffet and an artisanal shop with a twist Aside from serving and selling our very own GRND UP’s home-made products, patrons can pick and eat and buy farm to table fresh goods and lokal products made by Cebuano MSME’s.

We see In-person Communication, Colonial Mentality Mindset and social biases that led to discrimination as pressing problems in this generation. We wanted to help address these pressing issues with food and the long table concept of dining. To make sure that conversations happen, there will be no WiFi in the cafe. Just food, stories, smiles and conversations with the people they know - and not. Kaontana promotes local eating local and local buying local.

Our concept store, even our restaurant, aims to promote and support our farmers and local producers who are the backbone of our economy. Also our MSMEs who comprise 99% of our business economy. When we support these sectors, we address the problems of how we can be a self-sustaining country. And this is the Kaontana solution. We are one Filipino people and to improve this economy, we must support Filipino and choose Filipino.

We will make an impact to the economy through the choices that we make: either it's a foreign brand or a local one. If we just EDUCATE the consumers through experience, that would go a long way not just for us, but our economy as a whole. It's time to bring back our IDENTITY as FILIPINOS by promoting the Filipino tradition of oneness in food.
